The crave is on!

Ok. I had a hard time getting up this morning, but finally got up close to 12 am.

After drinking half a litre of water and sobbing downstairs I did an easy morning routine with some hindu squats and push-ups to get my body going. Afterwards felt more awake and live, so went for a shower and then breakfast.

Breakfast:
– Acetyl L-Carnitine in water w/a multivit capsule and 3 omega-3 capsules.
– Vegetable wok 500 g + 250 ml coconut milk: 625 kcal, 12.5 g protein, 37.5 g carbs, 47 g fat

Lunch:
– Liver, ~150 g, 260 kcal (40 g p, 7 g c, 7 g f)
– w/onion, broccoli and swedish turnip

Pre dinner:
– L-Glutamine, one tsp
– Egg, one cooked sunny side up, 90 kcal (6 p, 0 c, 7 f)

Dinner:
– Wild salmon, 125 g, 142.5 kcal (25 p, 0 c, 4.75 f)

Supper:
– Vegetable wok 250 g + 250 ml coconut milk: 550 kcal, 10 g protein, 46 g carbs, 47 g fat

So adding up the rough numbers today I get maybe 1700 kcal and 83.5 g protein – which is way too much protein and somewhat low on the energy!

No wonder I’ve been feeling intense cravings today. I’m really not getting a hang of including enough fat in my diet yet, and only 9 days left of this 30 day trial.. I can already determine this hasn’t been a 100% successful 30-day trial, but still I’m pretty happy about my progress. I finally got started and now have a lot of experience trying to stay high fat – and still my to learn 🙂

Tomorrow will be more fatty!

Wok’s the word..

Breakfast
– Acetyl L-Carnitine
– Vegetable wok 500 g + 250 ml coconut milk: 625 kcal, 12.5 g protein, 37.5 g carbs, 47 g fat

Lunch (post workout)
– Wild Salmon, 125 g, 142.5 kcal (25 g protein, 0 carbs, 4.75 g fat)

Snack
– Blueberries, aproximately a cup

Dinner
– Coconut oil, one tablespoon, 30 g
– Vegetable wok 450 g + 250 ml coconut milk: 587 kcal, 12 g protein, 28 g carbs, 47 g fat

Quite a bit of woking today, tomorrow I’ll go for more beef and some omega-3 capsules if I remember taking it..

Energy intake somewhat on the low side, will up that as well.

Home sweet home ..

So packed my bags and traveled back home today.

Breakfast
– Vegetable wok with coconut milk and green curry paste, probably about 400 kcal

Lunch
–  Chicken, grilled, half, 200 g?, 432 kcal (34 grams)

Dinner
– Vegetable wok with coconut milk and green curry paste, estimate 625 kcal

Snack
– Blueberries, a handful, 17 kcal

Supper
– Sardines, smoked and canned, 80 grams, 150 kcal (13 grams)

So a total of 400 + 432 + 625 + 16 + 150 =  1623 kcal and 34 + 13 = 47 grams.

The calories are on the low side, but with today’s activity level it’s not too bad, and the proteins should be sufficient.

Now that I’m back home I’ll catch up on a few things and soon I am at finally giving you an overview of the science behind choosing fat over carbohydrates, and of course with some additional sources and reading material to boot 😉

So check back for some informational diet talk 🙂

Breaking a promise..

Having a little bit of alcohol today, because of likely my last day in Bergen for a longe time, but keeping it on the very low and low..

Will be interesting to see if it’s easier to drink just a little than usual, which I’ve read others reporting after staying on a high fat diet for some time..

Today’s meals:

Breakfast
–  Beef and vegetable soup, double portion of yesterday

Lunch
– Coconut oil, one tablespoon, ~30 g

Dinner
– Vegetable wok with coconut milk and green curry paste, probably about 400 kcal

Then some alcohol, will report the total for that later 🙂

Update: Only 100 ml Choya (15%) at the vorspiel and ended up skipping the city life as everyone was determined to go to a place on the opposite side of town, which I always find really boring, so just went back to the apartment to chill out and get an early sleep in stead 😮

So much for a final night on the town in Bergen before my travels. I might return next weekend if there’s a chance of skydiving, but probably not, and if so it’ll be all about skydiving and no partying, me thinks..

Good night world!

Soup’s the word 🙂

This post update will be short

Breakfast
– Beef and vegetable soup, leftovers that I brought with me from home for the trip 🙂

Snack
– Pure coconut juice, 200 ml (bought at the health food store’s fridge, so sceptical about the fat content/healthyness as it was pure liquid at about 8 degrees celcius)

Dinner
– Beef and vegetable soup

Supper
– Vegetable wok with coconut milk and green curry paste, probably 800 kcal

I’ll look into maybe having smallers meals in the evening. Doesn’t look promising for any skydiving this weekend, so will probably return home tomorrow or saturday.

Have a good one!

In the land of race-car-yayas..

Been driving today and doing various arrends, and checked out my shed that someone had broken into. Couldn’t find anything missing, so that’s at least positive 🙂

Only two meals today:

Breakfast
– Lamb stew, leftovers from the other day, estimate >1000 kcal? Some meat, lots of fat and thick liquid..

Dinner
– Vegetable wok with coconut milk and green curry paste, probably 800 kcal.

Another good day energy- and dietwise. Been very thirsty today though, so probably didn’t drink enough water while driving for hours after the fatty breakfast.

I’ll do better 🙂

Steb by step..

Got up a little earlier again today, just before 11 am, and tomorrow I’m aiming for 8 am due to travels.

More energy in the diet today, here’s what I managed to get in:

Breakfast
– Bone Marrow of beef, cooked, 100 g,  786 kcal (84 g fat, 7 g protein)
– Acetyl L-Carnitine with water

Dinner
– Beef soup, very very thick (as in fatty), estimate 1000 kcal (30 g protein, 150 g fat)
– Vegetables in the soup: broccoli, swedish turnip, carrots

Supper
– Acetyl L-Carnitine with water
– Coconut milk, canned, 400 ml, 640 kcal (6g protein, 68 g fat, 4 g carbs)
– Beef tongue, cooked, 50 g, 140 kcal (9 g protein, 10 g fat)

Evening snack
– Tea, licorice and cinnamon

The energy consumption amounts to approximately 2700 kcal, which is really good. I did get a bit sleepy for a short while after the coconut milk, but might have been too much fat in a short time and my body not being completely adapted to it yet.

Someone broke into my apartment’s shed yesterday, so going there to see what is missing tomorrow and hopefully get to do some skydiving and sell my car at the same time (downsizing for my travels), so food will be somewhat harder the rest of the week, but will also give me more practice on finding good food while traveling.

Feel the diet is growing on me, and think with a little creativity I’ll find many good variations to make the diet more interesting as well 🙂

Another sleepless night.

Seems like no matter what I do I’ve shifted my day rythm too much, and had troubles falling asleep again last night. I do have a lot on my mind though, so that might be kicking in to my sleeplessness as well. So fell asleep around 6 am and got up at 2 pm.. About 1 hour better than yesterday, so if I can just continue in the right direction I’ll get back to a normal rythm again by the end of the week :p

Anyhow, without further ado, let’s get through today’s menu.

Lunch
– Acetyl L-Carnitine in a glass of water
– Coconut oil, one tablespoon, 30 grams?, 270 kcal

Dinner
– Lamb stew (leg and shoulder), 250-300 grams? maybe more, 900 kcal
– Swedish turnip, broccoli and  carrots

Supper
– Liver, cooked in coconut oil,  150 grams, 290 kcal

Late snack
– Coconut oil, one tablespoon, 270 kcal

All adding up to a total of 270 + 900 + 290 + 270 = 1730 kcal.

So way too little energy today and protein intake still in the higher range of my target. Not feeling anything problematic energywise, but long term I need to find more ways of incorporating fat in my diet..

A new start ..

Ok, so the last few days have been shamefully sugary which gave me an immense problem falling asleep, so through the last two nights the day has been shifted so much so that I didn’t fall asleep till past 7 am this morning and didn’t get up till 3 pm. This has got to change! And today is sugarless 😉

So let’s get a brief overview of today’s food intake:

Lunch (can’t call it breakfast at 3 pm can I ?)
– Acetyl L-Carnitine mixed in a glass of water
– Beef rib eye, 180 grams (477 kcal, 30.6 g fat, 48.6 g protein, 0 g carbs), cooked with onion in coconut oil.

Dinner
– Spicy lamb curry w/onion, broccoli, carrots, fennel, ginger, chili, lemon grass, curry paste & coconut milk.
Again very delicious, but actual portion size is hard to tell… Picture of dish coming soon though, had it first time earlier this week and really love it!
– 2 multivit & 3 Omega-3 tablets.

Don’t think I met my energy target of 2500 kcal today, but then again it’s been a short day and not very exerting (except for a short workout routine upon waking). I did however have enough protein just from my lunch to cover the entire day, so pretty sure my protein intake has been way too high today, but I consider  a day with too much protein  while “coming down” from the sugar high is OK.

Hopefully I’ll manage to get to sleep earlier today. It is already 1:30 am upon writing this, but if I can get to sleep by 2 am I’ll be ecstatic about that compared to past 7 am last night..  I have also noticed a bit of eczema/dry skin around the nose again, most likely due to the recent sugar feast, and some itching from eczema on the scalp. These, combined with ease of falling asleep, stomach upsets, energy level throughout the day and mental clarity are my prime means of monitoring if I’ll find this diet good for me.

Catch you on the flip side!

Walk of shame and new day’s resolutions..

Let’s start with today’s food intake.

Breakfast:
– Acetyl L-Carnitine mixed in a glass of water
–  Coconut oil, one heaped tablespoon

Lunch
– Beef sirloin, 135 g, cooked in coconut oil
– Yellow apple, one piece

Dinner
– Wild salmon, 125 g, cooked w/onion in coconut oil
– Broccoli & carrots, boiled

Moviesnack (The Karate Kid)
–  Marzipan chocolate, 150 grams.

Supper
– Beef soup w/vegetables, 1-2 bowls, reheated left-overs.

Ok, this is just stupid. Without going through the numbers I’m pretty sure I didn’t give myself enough calories throughout the day and this in conjunction with including sugar/snacks recently I ended up giving into temptation for marzipan chocolate again today (it’s so good!). So that’s the walk of shame, I gave in again, what’s happened to my discipline the last few days?

And here is my new day’s resolution: I will not eat any sugary candy or piece of fruit for the remainder of this 30 day fat for fuel trial. some berries are ok, but that’s it.

As it is written, so let it be done.
